My Priorities

Fighting for the Heart of Texas

I’m Milah Flores, a mom, a community advocate, and a dedicated public servant running to represent Texas’s 17th Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives. I am running because I believe our leaders should feel what we feel, see what we see, and fight for the same dreams we share.

My family and I chose East Texas as our home because of the people and the sense of community. This is a place where neighbors still show up for one another and where families work hard every day to build a better future. I live the same realities as the people I hope to represent. Balancing work, raising children, paying bills, buying groceries, and worrying about healthcare are not abstract issues to me. They are part of everyday life, and I know too many families are being pushed to the brink.

I bring real world experience and a heart for service. For more than a decade, I worked alongside the military and supported military families, including roles with the Army, Air Force, and the United States Space Force. Today, I work directly with veterans as a Financial Assistance Coordinator, helping families stay housed and stable. I see firsthand how federal decisions impact real people, and I know where government works and where it fails.

My Vision For District 17

Families in District 17 work hard and do everything right, yet costs keep rising while wages stay the same. I believe families should not have to choose between groceries, rent, and healthcare. I will fight to strengthen programs that help families get ahead and protect children from going hungry.

A Government That Works for You

Washington too often prioritizes politics over people. I believe in transparency so taxpayers know where their money is going, accessibility so constituents can reach their representative, and accountability so public service stays focused on serving the people rather than protecting careers.

Term Limits and Real Representation

Congress was never meant to be a lifetime position. I support term limits because leadership should listen, serve with integrity, and then make room for new voices and fresh ideas that reflect the people.

Safe, United, and Compassionate Communities

We can support public safety, respect the rule of law, and still lead with compassion and humanity. I believe in policies that bring people together, protect families, and reflect our shared values. My goal is to bridge divides, not deepen them.

Why this matters to me

I did not grow up in politics. I grew up understanding struggle, responsibility, and resilience. Those experiences shaped my empathy and my belief that people deserve leaders who listen first and act with purpose. Our community does not need more division. It needs solutions, unity, and leadership grounded in lived experience.

I am not running for a title. I am running for the families of District 17, for veterans who served and sacrificed, and for the next generation who deserve a future built on opportunity, fairness, and hope.

Together, we can bridge the gap between government and people, between policy and real life, and between where we are and where we should be.

“I am not running for a title. I am running for the people who have trusted me with their stories and their struggles, for every hardworking family in District 17, and for every child who deserves a tomorrow filled with hope, safety, and opportunity.”
